PRISNA:
Product Isolation from Nature
Company profile:
PRISNA (Product Isolation from Nature) is a consortium of
several independent Dutch companies and the department Pharmacognosy
of the Leiden University. The objective of PRISNA is to acquire
bio-processing business for the individual members of the
consortium in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, cosmetic,
agrochemical and marine market segments.
Scope:
- lead discovery/development
- extraction/separation/fractionation
- purification (pilot/process scale)
- chemical analysis (CA reporting)
- impurity profiling/toxicity testing
We offer discovery, development and production of natural
products, including extraction, separation, isolation, purification
and structure elucidation or just fractionation of extracts.
Services:
PRISNA offers the following services to its clients:
- feasibility studies
- contract research
- manufacturing target compounds
- equipment distribution/support
- GLP, GMP, DMF, IMPD compliant
- customised training
Through a comprehensive project definition, and a feasibility
study the prospective customer may choose for the possibility
of outsourcing research (CRO), for the actual production and
analyses of bio-active compounds, quality control, or eventually
the development of an innovative production method and support
in acquiring and installing the necessary equipment. Manufacturing
is in conformity with international pharmaceutical regulatory
requirements (GMP, GLP, GAP). On request, an Investigational
Medicinal Product Dossier (IMPD) or Drug Master File (DMF)
can be prepared. Also training for such activities can be
provided.
Technologies:
- supercritical extraction (scCO2)
- centrifugal partition chromatography (FCPC)
- preparative HPLC
- NMR, LC/MS/DAD, GC/MS, UPLC/DAD
- Cytochrom P450 metabolomic studies
- Isotope labelled plant material (C13, N15
The bio-processing of high purity bio-active compounds covers
the whole field from concept in the lab, to pilot and production
scale. An array of modern extraction and separation technologies
are available like supercritical fluid extraction (sCO2),
over-pressurized water extraction, centrifugal partition chromatography
(CPC), etc.
State-of-the-art scientific equipment enables the combination
of a high yield, with a high purity, while safeguarding the
integrity of the substance. We provide analytical quality
control by means of LC/MS, UPLC/DAD, GC/MS, and NMR inclusive
the residual analyses of impurities. In addition PRISNA also
performs Cytochrome P450 studies in order to 1) predict the
bio-transformation of specific plant products in the human
body (metabolism), and 2) assess the possible interaction
with the bio-transformation of other drugs (drug interaction
studies). |
